We took a six-day five-night trip to Las Vegas. Here’s what we did, at least most of it.

Monday 3/27

We drove to Vegas. On the way, we saw the world’s tallest thermometer and a general store with over a thousand types of soda. That was in Baker. Once in Vegas, we checked in at the Wyndham Grand Desert. We unpacked and chilled a bit, then had a great dinner at Modern Vegan. Afterwards we went to the Tropicana Casino to check out the place and whether it was a good parking option for the show tomorrow night. [continued]

Tuesday 3/28

We had lunch with an old friend we have know for decades. It was wonderful to see Deborah and we spend a few hours catching up and talking. And the lunch at Thailicious was very tasty. There were plenty of vegan options. Then we went to the Green Valley Casino because we had read online that they had the rare Gems Wild Tiles slot machine that is Petra’s favorite. We found it and played for a while. Then we drove to the Tropicana and parked for the evening, since they had free parking. We had a vegan Mexican food dinner at Hussong’s Cantina and then went to the show, Cirque Du Soleil’s “Mad Apple”. It was top-notch, as their shows always seem to be.

Wednesday 3/29

We had a vegan Indian food buffet at Govinda’s for lunch, it was good but pretty small and very low-key, in a temple. Then we went back to the Green Valley Casino for a little gambling. Afterwards we went to Planet Hollywood for the Zombie Burlesque show. It was entertaining but a bit on the crude and sleazy side. Oh well.

Thursday. 3/30

We had lunch at Tacotarian in nearby Henderson. We have a Tacotarian location near us in San Diego and we both love it. This Vegas location was just as awesome. It’s all vegan which is a big plus. Then we went back for our last visit to the Green Valley Casino. Petra kissed the Gems Wild Tiles machine goodbye. On the way back we picked up our tickets for tomorrow’s Glass Expo (for glass artists). We stopped at a few thrift stores, that’s always fun. And next was The Mirage Casino, for tonight’s show. First up was a stop at the Starbucks inside for some fuel. Then we had dinner at the True Food Kitchen, which had some tasty vegan options. And we ended the day with the Cirque Du Soleil show “The Beatles – Love”. It was wonderful.

Friday 3/31

We had lunch at the all-vegan Graze restaurant. It was good but the waitress let it sit too long so it wasn’t hot. But it served the purpose, and gave us sustenance for the afternoon’s Glass And Bead Expo. It is the Mecca for glass artists (like Petra). She found a lot of good ideas and products and we both enjoyed it. Next was a quick stop at Starbucks in The Mirage and we walked to the nearby Venetian Casino to check out the indoor (and outdoor) canals and gondolas. Our show for tonight was Mat Franco, a master magician with comedy. The show amazed both of us, and it’s highly recommend if you get to Vegas.

4/1

We checked out of the Wyndham, and went for brunch at the Black And Blue Diner. There were plenty of vegan options and we both loved the food. We stopped at a thrift store and then headed home to Oceanside, CA.
